People With Gods Kill People

There isn't much that prompts me to post on this particular social media outlet these days. Honestly I think the world would be better off without facebook. But today I will take advantage of it. I woke up this morning and read about the mass shooting in Florida. It made me cry. It made me shake. It made me sick to my stomach. It also made me really fucking angry. Those victims could have been my family, Richard's family, or one of my friends.
Many People have blood on their hands over this tragedy. Every politician who has taken money from the NRA to prevent common sense gun safety laws has blood on their hands. Legislators and celebrities who have taken a public stance on "Any gun for Anyone" has blood on their hands. It is easier for a psychopath to buy a military grade assault rifle and thousands of rounds of ammunition than it is for a gay man to donate blood at the Red Cross. Enough is Enough
Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people. Religion is what drives homophobia. Aside from religion, what argument is there against the LGBT community? With the exceptions of suppressed feelings, projection and for a few people, an "ick" factor"... the answer is always "God says it's sinful" or "Allah says it's sinful" or " Zoroaster says gays are demons" Televangelists, Roman Catholics, Westboro Baptists and Even the Buddhists who believe "homosexuality happens as a karmic consequence of violating Buddhist proscriptions" . It seems that all "Godly" people feel the need to judge the sex lives and loves of other people. How can this NOT contribute to the violence and hatred that fuels massacres?
Religious zealots who preach against homosexuality, REGARDLESS of denomination have blood on their hands. Those who don't believe in marriage equality People who protest the rights of a person to use the bathroom of their choice, have blood on their hands. Apologists for those who harbor religious bigotry, have blood on their hands.
If you have blood on your hands, acknowledge it and ask why you believe what you believe. Don't pray for the victims and their families. Donate to an LGBT cause. Contact your local, state and national representatives. Contact the NRA. Vote Your Conscience. Don't spread bigotry. Don't believe everything you think, or everything someone else tells you. Kiss your loved ones.
